What is the Auto Power Joystick?

Manitou is constantly striving to improve the comfort and performance of its material handling equipment. Today, the group is adding a new function to its famous JSM Joystick: JSM Auto Power.

For what purpose?

On hydrostatic and continuously variable transmissions, the accelerator pedal acts simultaneously on the speed of the hydraulic movements and the machine's travel speed. This "double effect" can be uncomfortable / unproductive when both high hydraulic speed and slow travel speed are desired. The JSM Auto Power Joystick can overcome this problem.

How does the system work?

This device has been designed to automatically adjust engine speed according to the operator's hydraulic power demand on the JSM Joystick (Joystick Switch & Move). By directly controlling the engine speed, the JSM Auto Power function adapts the hydraulic power requirements according to the operator's demand by providing the right engine speed for the right need at the right time. This highly intuitive feature makes handling work easier, reduces fuel consumption and also reduces the noise level generated by the machine.

Example of use: To raise the boom of the telescopic handler, you usually have to pull the joystick backwards and use the accelerator pedal to increase the engine speed. With the JSM Auto Power function, the JSM joystick immediately senses the hydraulic demand and automatically adjusts the engine speed to deliver an adjusted and precise movement.

JSM Auto Power is available on all Manitou telescopic handlers that comply with Stage 5 emission standards and are equipped with M-Varioshift (V) or M-Vario Plus (V+) transmission.
